remakan, the private food journal app for Malaysia, helps you remember the dishes you loved and where to find them again. It is free on iPhone and Android, and your journal is private to you.
Who it is for
- People in Malaysia who eat out often and want to remember the good meals.
- Anyone who forgets which stall had the best char kuey teow, or what to order next time.
- People who want a private record, not a public review.
- Adults: you must be 18 or older to use remakan.
What you can save
- Each dish, with its name, a rating out of five, photos, and a note, such as tambah sambal or teh kurang manis.
- Each place, with its own rating, a photo, and your notes, such as halal or air conditioning. These are your own notes, not halal certification.
- A want-to-visit list of places to try.
- Collections, such as your five-star dishes.
- Private tier lists that sort your places for one dish: Wajib makan, Go again, Can go, Meh, and Avoid.
- Monthly and yearly recaps of what you ate.
How to start
- Get the app, and sign in with Apple or Google. There is no password to make.
- Save your first dish: take a photo, name it, rate it out of five, and add a note for next time.
- Add the place where you ate. Rate the place on its own, and find both again in your journal, your collections, and your recaps.
What it is not
- Not a calorie counter or a diet app. remakan does not count calories.
- Not a social network. No feed or friends needed, and it is private by default: only you can see your ratings, notes, and photos.
- Not a public ranking of restaurants. Your ratings and tier lists are for you.
- Not ReMeal, which is a different app, for surplus food.
- Not the Indonesian word "remakan" (a remake). The name is re·makan: to eat it again.
